Q and A with Doris Pack MEP

ImageDoris Pack MEP is a familiar name in Croatia. A German Christian Democratic member of the European People’s Party, she has been interested in Croatia and the former Yugoslavia for many years.

She is the chairwoman of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with the countries of south-east Europe. CBR gains her insight on Croatia’s relations with the EU, in particular economic issues.

We also ask her about what effect the problems in Bosnia-Herzegovina may have on Croatia, and the recent lenient UN judgement of the 'Vukovar Three' that had Croatia outraged.

Croatian Elections 2007
There will be a full analysis of the Croatian elections, why the result was what it was and what the implications are in a few days time - a little after the dust has settled, and when we know who the government will actually be.

Below is our pre-election briefing. Our briefing did mention that HDZ are under-estimated in opinion polls, and this has been borne out by the election result in which they did better than expected. It is a point most other Engish language media did not grasp in their pre-election reporting. The next few days will see if they can turn their advantage into a coalition government.
